Carol, unless you've already made a big-time effort to resolve your calcium level naturally, I would say it's premature to consider surgery.

Do you have a solid vitamin/mineral program in place?

Does it include big doses of Vitamin D3 to help your body handle the calcium better?

Do you get large doses of magnesium, the body's natural way to balance calcium?

Have you eliminated all calcium from your supplements and calcium-rich foods, such as dairy, from your diet?

Most parathyroid problems actually stem from hypothyroidism (whether or not the tests announce the problem). Taking Synthroid or other T4 med makes things worse. The parathyroids can't do their thing without enough calcitonin, a natural part of our thyroid hormone--but not a part of T4 meds.

Most people who have parathyroid surgery don't benefit.

Hi, Paul, Vitamins and minerals were life-changing for me, and I believe they can make a similar difference for you, too. The thyroid is a nutrition hog. For instance, a deficiency in the B vitamins can slow it to a crawl, and most of us are deficient. Same with magnesium. Congratulations on taking control of your health.

Hi Bette,
My Aunt is very interested in your book but does not have a computer. Do you have this in a hard copy (other than printing it out on the 8x11?

Thanks.
